It's been a very exciting and quite honestly exhausting week and a half with the move, vacation, etc.! SO much news it's hard to know where to begin! We leave for Las Vegas bright and early tomorrow morning (5:30am Hawaii time)! There is talk of a hurricane coming to the islands this weekend when we are gone so we need everyone to pray that it isn't bad and for our pets safety when we are gone. Thursday we are seeing Yellowcard in concert at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay. It's the first stop on their tour after releasing their new ablum; Lift a Sail. We both are obsessed with their new album and are so thankful we are able to catch them when we are in Vegas (we did plan the dates of this trip to make sure we would be able to see them live). My mom is meeting us there so it will be such a great trip (especially since we haven't stepped foot into a casino since April! I don't know how we've made it, haha).
Mark recently accepted a job at Hawaii's state newspaper; The Star Advertiser! He is working in the sales department and so far really enjoying it! I'm sure in the next post he'll talk a little more about the actual job, but so far very exciting! There doesn't seem to be much to complain about for either of us career wise.. I get to spend all day working on the beach and Mark gets to spend his lunch hour at a beautiful park next to the ocean, not too shabby.
Last week when the Packers played the Vikings on Thursday night we started the first half at Buffalo Wild Wings where we stayed until half time. We almost went home because the game was so boring (in a good way-with a huge lead). But decided to check out a bar directly under bdubs; Snappers. Much to our surprise it ended up being a Wisconsin bar.. what's even sweeter is it's a five minute walk from our place (or soon to be old place, lol). The entire bar was decorated in Packer/Badger/Wisconsin decorations; flags, fat head wall decals all over the walls, a big screen showing the game and dozens of fans decked out in Packer gear cheering; Go, Pack, Go. The entire feel of the bar made us feel like we were back in Wisconsin/Milwaukee. It's kind of a whole in the wall bar but filled with good vibes and incrediably nice people. Those few hours we spend there watching the games now make us feel as though we are back in Wisconsin!Their happy hour was amazing too! Half-priced appitizers that included cheese curds, potato boats and other goodies including $3 Mai Tais and Miller Light. Their menu also had Leinenkugels beer (which is the first time we've seen it here-most people never heard of it), brats, and other Wisconsin-Hawaii goodies. What a cool feeling being in Hawaii and being able to feel a little more at home cheering for our Packers with a ton of other fans across the world!
